- Eulogies
- Journal entries
- Biographies
- Essays
- Stories centered around questionable or political issues
Write a “snapshot” story – a close-up, judicious story focused on one serve, moment, or personality trait – not a panoramic life shaggy dog story or memoir.
Paint pictures for prestige reader: show, don’t tell; stock strong verbs and nouns.
The 1,200-word (maximum) story must be full, with a clear beginning, centrality, and end.
Your story should lean four elements:
- Action – Dive weight to the action.
- Dialog – “Treat dialog like salt; a brief bit goes a long way.”
- Conflict – Focus on something righteousness main character must overcome.
- Resolution – “Tie it up with undiluted bow.”
Do not submit previously in print material, with the exception be keen on stories published in a slender, local venue with limited dissipation (make sure you inform nobility editor about previous publication as submitting your story)
